Information
Volle Militêre Eerbetoon is power duo Trike’s debut album, a collection of mostly acoustic tracks, in Afrikaans, with smatterings of looped beats and electronics. The recording is rough and full of background noise in parts, some tracks even feature the distinctive hum of a suburb. Although it is in some ways presented as a fun album, there is a deep underlying darkness and cynicism pushing its way through. Content-wise it is uncompromising. Drikus Barnard is a talented songwriter, and his words become sweet poison with Esmé Evakwaad’s velvety vocals. Recorded and mixed by Paul Riekert, this is a hefty release for any newcomer.

Press reviews
Volle Militêre Eerbetoon is one of the best albums, across genres, of the last ten years. It doesn’t follow any visible trend, hacks out an uncompromising message and contains enough catchy hooks to warrant repeated listening.” (Toast Coetzer, substancebooks.co.za, 2004)
