Information
Swim Club is the brainchild of award-winning commercials editor Willie Saayman, and 3471 is his debut release under this moniker; his previous release being a single on Planet Mu as Weaver001. Having journeyed through many styles and genres, this offering has been described as “post-Neu rock” or “space-rock”: the guitars take centre stage, on top of layers of (programmed or live) electronica and processed vocals. The result is a trippy but energetic album from the other side of the universe. Strong melodies and hooks lurk in the background and compel you to go back to this album again and again.
Press reviews
“3471 sees Saayman delivering a beautifully organic electro album that reminds me of New Order, Aphex Twin and some of Billy Corgan’s electro solo work. This album is a silent killer: unassuming at first, but before long you won’t be able to get it out of your system.” (Lloyd Gedye, Mail&Guardian, Sept 1-7, 2006)
