Achimota Marimba Band

What is Achimota? The name means, "don't ask, just listen". It is a living, growing concept — a dynamic band that is making a name for itself in Gauteng. They play a mixture of traditional and more contemporary music, with a slight rap and kwaito influence.
Achimota began by busking on the streets of Johannesburg, but progressed to performing corporate gigs and at weddings, which it has been doing for about four years. They have not forgotten their roots, and have formed an NGO that trains young kids in Orange Farm township to sing, play marimbas and drums, and dance.
